Some Young Workers in Creighton and Denare Beach Need a Certificate to Work

As Saskatchewan youth look for summer employment those 14 and 15 years old are reminded they must complete the province’s Young Workers Readiness Certificate Course in order to work.  The course teaches youth about their rights and responsibilities related to health, safety and employment standards in the workplace.

All 14 and 15 year old workers must provide their employer with proof of age, written consent from a parent or guardian and a copy of their certificate.  Employers are required to keep a copy of any young worker’s certificate on file.

The current course can be taken online at www.lrws.gov.sk.ca/ywrcc and you can learn more about the course by calling 1-800-667-1783.
