Cadet Programs in 3 Northern Communities will be Getting Provincial Help

Justice Minister Andrew Swan made the announcement yesterday in Thompson noting the funding will be used for a few different things. He says it’s about 38 thousand dollars and the intention is to provide uniforms. He says Cross Lake’s program has been up and running for a while but it’s been pointed out they could use some new uniforms and in Norway House and Nelson House they’re at a much earlier stage so it will also help them with uniforms and it’ll provide healthy snacks for cadets while they’re in training. The funding will be provided by criminal forfeiture money which comes from the proceeds of unlawful activities. Cadets help the RCMP establish and strengthen relationships between officers, youth and community residents.
