Tomorrow marks the start of National Fishing Week sponsored by the Canadian National Sport Fishing Foundation. Their spokesperson Mike Melnick says the idea is to encourage Canadians to start or get back to fishing. He says there are a lot of Canadian who used to fish or have never tried fishing before and it’s a way of reminding people it’s a good idea whether during National Fishing Week or other times of the year to take a break from the electronics, from all the emails and texts and get together with family and friends and enjoy this country’s great outdoors.
Melnick also encourages people to take part in the free family fishing weekends held in each province including Manitoba in June and Saskatchewan later this month. For information on how to get started fishing visit their website at www.catchfishing.com.
