Creighton and Denare Beach Students Can Keep Learning This Summer

The Saskatchewan Government is providing 600 thousand dollars to eight school divisions to host summer literacy camps including Creighton School Division. The Division’s Director of Education Bob Smith says the camp benefits students 5 to 12 years old adding the literacy camp is intended to provide kids with an opportunity to be exposed to learning activities similar to what would happen in a classroom but much more in a sort of a play camp format and the purpose is to try and retain their literacy skills over the summer.  He says when children are away from school for a two month period some of the students have quite a drop in their learning and the intent of the camp is to try and maintain their reading levels over the course of the summer.

Students interested in attending the summer literacy camps starting July 21st running until August 8th can call Coordinator Chelsea Veitch at 204-271-2140.
