The Women’s Resource Center is holding an event called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to support the Safe Haven.  Executive Director Colleen Arnold says the event raises awareness and money.  She says it’s an international men’s march to stop rape, assault and gender violence and it’s an effective way to get men involved. She says it’s a serious subject but the walk provides an icebreaker to get the message out there.  She adds all the participants must raise at least 75 dollars in pledges with a taxable receipt given for all pledges of 20 dollars or more and all the pledges are to help run the Safe Haven for abused women.

The walk will take place Friday at 4 o’clock starting at Pioneer Square.  Pledge forms are available at the Women’s Resource Center and they have men’s shoe sizes 9 to 14 in red high heels for the men to walk in.  All pledges must be in by Thursday and prizes will be awarded at the walk.
