As part of the Young Citizen’s Program students from across Canada submit videos reflecting on Canada’s history. A Flin Flon grade six student at McIsaac School Chloe Reitlo submitted a video on Canada’s role in the Boer War. In the video she explains she chose this topic because she found her great great grandfather’s medal from the Boer War. She says she took great interest in the project and wanted to find out more. Reitlo explained her great great grandfather was born in Peterborough England, served in the Boer War from 1901 to 1903 as a telegraph operator and in 1905 he moved to Canada to Brandon, Manitoba.
You can now go on line and vote to help Chloe’s video move on to the Governor General’s Awards. Voting takes place until July 11th at www.youngcitizens.ca.
