Major Work Will Take Place on Northern Roads

The Manitoba government has announced they will invest over 1.5 million dollars on several improvements to provincial road 391 from the vicinity of Thompson to Leaf Rapids over the next two years.  Flin Flon MLA Clarence Pettersen says its part of a 32 million dollar multi year highway capital program in this area.  He says this really affects Nelson House, Leaf Rapids, South Indian Lake and Lynn Lake and he thinks it recognizes the safety they want to be done on these roads but also recognizes that people in the north matter. He adds he knows Chief Moody is excited to get his 11 kilometers on the road up to the main highway.  Pettersen says it’s a good thing for his constituency so he’s really proud of it.

Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Steve Ashton adds this is part of their long term plan to invest in roads, bridges and infrastructure throughout Manitoba.
