The Pump Out Issue Has Been Tabled

At their meeting Tuesday night Flin Flon City Council received a letter and a presentation regarding septic tank pump outs in Channing and Waly Heights. It was stated that at meetings about the pump outs it was deemed fair for the city to provide one pump out a week per household but City Council has proposed allowing one pump out every ten days or 37 times a year which will not meet family’s needs.  After much discussion it was agreed the bylaw should be tabled, the issue should be revisited by Council and they will consider conducting another survey on the use of the service.

The letter also expressed concern that the new bus schedule cancels the morning and noon bus runs to Channing leaving Channing without city bus service.

On another matter Council passed on second reading an amendment to the off roads vehicles bylaw stating all ATVs used or stored in the city must have a spark arrest system that meets manufactures standards in order to prevent them from starting fires. The amendment will be given final reading at Council’s next meeting.
