The big weekend is here as the Flin Flon Bombers will officially kick off their 100 years of celebrations with the Hall Of Fame weekend.
It all begins tonight with the Northland Ford Tailgate party at 5pm with hot dogs and refreshments. The player introductions will be at 7:20pm, the raising of the Championship Banner at 7:30 and puck drop expected for 7:45pm.
The Bombers will host the Laronge Ice Wolves in their home opener after beating the Wolves 6 to 2 in Laronge a week ago tonight.
6 different goal scorers in that one, and it looks like the Bombers will have scoring depth once again.
It looks like new Head Coach and GM Cole McCaig has been busy recruiting and their could be a few new faces in their lineup for the kickoff to the historic weekend tonight.
The Wolves come to town 1-1 after surprising the Melfort Mustangs last Saturday 5 to 2 to avenge their loss against Flin Flon on Friday night.They are no slouches and with new GM Bob Beatty and Head Coach Taylor Harnett now in the mix, this will be a lot different team this season.
The first ten minutes will be very interesting tonight, as we will see if the Bombers come out nervous or are able to feed off the large crowd who will be pumped up with all the Hall of Famers in the building.
Finn Werner is expected to get the start for the Bombers and after a shaky start was able to stop 19 of 21 shots last Friday and looks poised to have a very good season.
Riley Zezel got the win for the Wolves on Friday where he was able to stop 29 out of 31 shots and I would be surprised if he didn't start tonight.
We will find out at puck drop tonight.
There will also be an introduction of all the Hall of Famers in the opening intermission tonight including Tim Madarash, Rob Beck, Larry Feszczyn, Rob Hart and the 93-93 team. Former Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan unfortunately won't be in attendance tonight.
There will lso be the Alumni game tomorrow featuring Bomber players from the past from the SJHL, Norman League and WCHL. Puck drop will be 2pm and tickets will be available at the door.
The Hall of Fame Inductions will take place at the Flin Flon Community Hall on Saturday night starting at 6pm and is now sold out.
If you can't be at the game tonight you will be able to listen to the Hall Of Fame broadcast from the Whitney Forum on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com with the Great Norh GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and the rest of the festivities at 7:30pm.
