Everyone remembers local hockey legend Ted Hampson who was part of the Flin Flon Bombers that won the 1957 Memorial Cup before going on to a fairly lengthy Pro Hockey career.
After winning the Memorial Cup in 1957, Teddy went on to play Professional Hockey the next season and started a 32 year pro career in Providence.
His career took him to many NHL and WHA cities including Vancouver, Toronto, New York, Detroit, Oakland, Minnesota and Quebec before retiring in 1981.
At the age of 89, Teddy is still making headlines and has been recognized by the Professional Hockey Scouts Federation with the Ace Award. This is in recognition for efforts above and beyond in the Scouting Community.
After Teddy's playing career was over he went on to scout for the St Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks before retiring in 2022 at the age of 85.
The Ace Award is is named after Ace Bailey who was on one of the planes that crashed 25 years ago. Winner of five Stanley Cup rings with the Oilers and two with the Bruins; he was wearing ring number 7 on that flight. Everyone on that flight were hero’s.
