Bombers Suffer Their First Pre Season Loss To The Blizzard

The Flin Flon Bombers suffered their first defeat in the Pre-Season last night as they went into the Roh H Johnston Arena ,  and dropped a 6 to 3 decision to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.

The Bombers had a good first period and actually led 2 to 1 after one on goals by Brendan Phelps and Jack Martin.

The wheels came off in the second and the Blizzard scored three straight from Liam Carlone who scored  a pair and Matthew O'Sullivan found the back of the net  to jump up 4 to 2 after two.

Justin Withrow and Liam Carlone completed his hat-trick to nust it open 6 to 2,  before Phelps replied for the Bombers with his second of the night to make it a little more respectable at 6 to 3.

The Bomber powerplay let them down last night and wound up 0 for 7, and they were never really  in sinc and had a  tough time setting up in the Blizzard zone. The Blizzard were able to go 2 for 7 with the man advantage.

Kannon Kirkwood went the distance for the Blizzard between the pipes and after surrendering two goals in the opening period, settled down nicely making 34 saves on 37 shots.

Flin Flon split the netminding duties last night with Noah Martin stoping 9 of 12 before making way for Joseph Mitchell who stopped 5 of 8.

The Bombers are now 3-1 in the Pre Season while Northern Manitoba is 3-2.

These two teams will square off again tonight in the Bomber's final Pre Season game which will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com. Don't forget it all begins with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30pm.
