Bombers Final Home Stand

Just three games remaining on the Flin Flon Bombers season, with two of them at the Whitney Forum.

The Yorkton Terriers and former team- mate Brett Boehm make their way to the Forum Friday night for the final time. The Terriers have beaten the Bombers all three meetings this season including a 6-1 win in Yorkton January the 28th.

The Terriers have clinched first place in the very first Viterra Division and are on the verge of clinching the league pennant. Yorkton leads Kindersley by three points for first overall and both teams have two games remaining.

A Yorkton win in Flin Flon Friday would clinch the pennant, so the Terriers have lots to play for. The Bombers have had a great February to get back in the playoff hunt, with a record of 5-3.

The Bombers all of a sudden are just one point behind Weyburn for the final playoff spot, with three games to go. The Wings only have two, so if the Bombers win all three they are guaranteed to get in. Weyburn will play a home and home with Estevan, who interestingly enough could be the Bomber's opponent in the Survivor series.

Seventh will play tenth, and right now the Bruins occupy seventh spot, but could move up to sixth and surpass Humboldt with a couple wins this weekend, and help Flin Flon make the playoffs in the process. The Bonco's play two more against Yorkton and Humboldt.

The interesting matchup for Flin Flon this weekend will be Laronge who are in town Saturday. The Ice Wolves have had a disasterous second half and are the only team eliminated from the playoffs. Laronge has only won one of their last ten and that came against the Bombers by the tune of 8-3 back on February the 12th, which snapped a three game Bomber winning streak.

Laronge will have no pressure on them, and will have nothing to lose and I am sure they would love to end the Bomber's season if they get the chance. I am sure their remaining players from last year's squad remember that Flin Flon ended Laronge's playoff hopes in the last game of the year, which was also the final game with Bob Beatty behind the bench.

Remember this is a special 6:30 start, and will also be Hockey Beats Cancer Night at the Whitney Forum. We want to Pink The Rink and the Bombers will be donning a special pink jersey for Saturday's game, which will be auctioned off after the game.

Hockey Fights Cancer T-Shirts will also be sold for $10 each and proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Don't forget to make your way to the Creighton Community Hall after the game for the Bomber's Awards ceremony with tickets available at the Bomber office by calling 687-4404.

102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will broadcast Saturday's game with a special Murray GM Coach's Show at 6:10, play by play at 6:30.
