Mills Hang On to Beat Bombers 5-3

The Melville Millionaires showed the Flin Flon Bombers why they are one of the best teams in the SJHL.

The Mils came into the Whitney Forum on Saturday and picked up a 5-3 victory, to beat the Bombers for the second time this season and cap a perfect road trip.

Melville beat Nipawin 5-0 the night before.

Melville took it to Flin Flon in the first period out scoring them 2-0 and out shooting them 16-1.

The Bombers played a much better second period, but it was the Millionaires with the only goal as they led 3-0 after two.

The Bombers fianally got on the board in the third, when new comer 16 year old Dustin Perilat found the back of the net when his point shot was deflected past Isaiah Plett.

Melville answered with two more goals before Flin Flon would get a late surge and get a couple of goals from McCombie and Soubry.

Flin Flon would get a late power play, and pulled Devin Buffalo to get a 6 on 4 advantage but could not get any more pucks past Plett.

Melville goal scorers were: Bareth, Brandrup, Mospanchuk, Murray and Walz.

A scary moment for the Millionaires on Saturday when their captain Mospanchuk collided with Brody Robinson and fell awkwardly into the boards. Word is he is going to be ok, and it appears he just got a stinger down his neck and back.

Jamie Feisel told me earlier today that he gave himself a bit of a scare because he was feeling pain in his neck, but is feeling much better today and is expected to get right back on the ice.

The Bombers slip to 12-14 after the weekend and remain second in the Sherwood Division, tied with Laronge. The Ice Wolves do have a game in hand. Both teams are four points behind the Nipawin Hawks who continue to lead the division.

The Dec 1st deadline has come and gone and it appears the Bombers have picked up another d-man. More details to come on that hopefully later today. There were plenty of deals around the league including former Bomber  Tanner Clark being moved to Laronge

along with Hudson Morrison for 95 F Jason Duret and the rights to his brother 96 F Ryan Duret. This is Clark's fourth team this year.

The Bombers will enjoy 5 days off before getting back on the ice this weekend, when Melville comes back to Flin Flon for the final time on Friday, and Estevan is here on Saturday.

CFAR-590 and flinflononline.com will have all the action on Saturday including the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:10, with drop of the puck at 7:30.
