First Meeting Of The Season

The Flin Flon Bombers and Laronge Ice Wolves get set to renew their rivalry tonight in the first part of a home and home series at the Whitney Forum.

Laronge won both pre season games and the two clubs split the eight regular season meetings last year, with each team winning all their home games.

The Ice Wolves have been one of the biggest surprises so far this season with a 10-7 record, good enough for a share of first place in the Sherwood Division. Laronge got off to an incredible start and were ranked no.2 in the country, but have only won four of their last 10 to come back to the pack.

The Bombers come into tonight's matchup only four points behind Laronge with a game in hand. Flin Flon is 5-5 in their last 10 and sit with a record of 8-8 overall.

The Bombers will need to be better within their own division, as they are 1-3 against teams from the Sherwood so far this year.

This game will feature two of the leagues most prolific scorers in Brett Boehm for the Bombers and Sebastien Beauregard of the Ice Wolves. Boehm leads the Bombers in goals with 8 and is second in points with 14. Beauregard is scoring at will with 15 goals and 23 points and is in second  in overall scoring to the Nipawin Hawks Tad Kozan.

This will be the first of six meetings this season and Mike Reagan had this to say in preparation for tonight's game.

"I think they are a team that has got to off to a very good start, although they are a team that has come back to the pack a little bit." "You knew that wasn't going to last for ever but they have put together a very good team over there." " It is going to be very interesting to see them, we havn't been able to watch or play them since exhibition." "They have some high flyers over there and we are very good defensively, we are excited about the challenge with a chance to pull within a couple points of first place if we can win tonight."

All the action at the Whitney Forum at 7:30 , and remember no broadcast tonight. CFAR-590 and flinflononline.com will have all the action from Laronge tomorrow with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and play by play at 7:30 from the Mel Hegland Uniplex.
