It was so good I was wondering if anybody was going to be able to score a goal. Lynden Pastachak fianally did at the 6:04 mark of the third period, a powerplay goal to put the Bruins up 1-0 which would be enough to hold on for the victory. Estevan captain Tanner Froese would put one into the empty net at 19:38 to seal it.
The Bombers had great oppurtunities all night , but could not solve Bruin netminder Matt Gibney who stopped all 35 Bomber shots. Flin Flon were pressing with a 6 on 4 late in the game but could not find the back of the net.
Devin Buffalo was good as usual as he stopped 39 out 41 shots, including 15 in the third period. Buffalo was the Bomber's best player again last night , and he had the crowd in awe with some exceptional saves that surely would of beaten any other goaltender in this league.
Unfortunately the offense has dried up. After scoring 7 goals in Melville last Tuesday, the Bombers have only managed 7 in their last 4 games and have gone 1-3.
Flin Flon will have a chance to right the ship tonight as they will host the Notre Dame Hounds, 7:30 at the Forum. After a slow start the Hounds have reeled off 3 wins in a row including a shoot out win in Nipawin last night.
Notre Dame beat Flin Flon on Saturday 4-2 on the strength of 3 power play goals and are sitting in third in the Kramer Division with a record of 4-4.
The Bombers have dropped to under 500, with a record of 5-6 and have lost their last 3 games. Flin Flon remains third in the Sherwood Division, 3 points behind second place Melfort and 6 points behind the front running Ice Wolves. Flin Flon has a game in hand on both teams.
After tonight's home game with Notre Dame the Bombers hit the road for two games next Tuesday and Wednesday in Nipawin and Humboldt. Both games will be broadcast on CFAR-590 and flinflononline.com. We are on the air both nights at 8:10 MB time.
