Bombers And Klippers Split

The Flin Flon Bombers managed 2 out of a possible 4 points at home this weekend against the Kindersley Klippers.

The Bombers behind another strong performance from Devin Buffalo were able to pull out a 3-1 win on Friday night. Buffalo stopped 38 out of 39 shots and was the game's first star.

Parker Evans Campbell scored his first ever SJHL goal in the second period, with McCombie adding a  power play marker in the third. Brody Robinson picked up his first of the season, when he scored into the empty net with only 16 seconds left.

The lone Klipper goal came from: Brandon Scheidl.

This was Kindersley's first loss of the season.

The two teams locked horns again on Saturday night, with Kindersley cominig out on top this time 3-2.

Kindersley built up a 2-0 lead on goals from: Garden and Naish. The Bombers responded with power play goals by Boehm his first of the year and McCombie scored his third.

A tough break against Tyson Empey who was knocked into the Kindersley goaltender Evan Weninger late in the second.

The rookie netminder ended up getting injured and Empey was given a goaltender interferance penalty which resulted in a late second period power play.

The Klippers were able to score what turned out to be the game winner. Brandon Scheidel scored his second goal in as many nights at the 16:57 mark which gave Kindersley a 3-2 lead after 2.

The Bombers peppered veteran goalie Tyrell King with 16 third period shots, but could not solve the veteran goaltender and lost their third game of the season.

Flin Flon has been busy on the trade front by acquireing Eric Pederson from the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL for futures. Pederson made his Bomber debut on Saturday and looked very good. Every time he was out there he seemed to make things happen and was fun to watch.

The Bombers have moved Justin Rasmussen back to the maritimes. Both the organization and the player both agreed to the move. Mike Reagan thought that Rasmussen has had a tough time adjusting to the SJHL and he would be more accustomed to playing out east.

The Bombers have also picked up 2 players from Brookes of the AJHL. Defenseman Bryce Evesten who has played 2 seasons, and forward Garret Forrester who is a 3 year vet who also spent some time with Chilliwack. These trades are part of a 3 way deal with Rasmussen beig dealt out east.

Mike Reagan had this to say about the trades: " These 2 players are coming from a winning organization that I think will really help out our club. Pederson is a guy we saw recently at the AJHL showcase. We are really impressed with his work ethic and compete level and he really reminds me a lot of Cam Blair how competitive he is. We are expecting a lot out of him."

Forrester and Evesten will be ariving in Flin Flon later this week.

Next up for the Bombers will be the Weyburn Red Wings who come to town on Friday. Our next broadcast will be when the Bombers kick off their first big road trip of the season 4 games in 5 nights starting October the 15th in Melville.

After the weekend's action the Bombers record sits at 2-3, 4th in the Sherwood Division.
