What A Stadium

Invsestors Group Field was everything I heard it would be and more. WOW, what a beautiful stadium. I had the oppurtunity to see it for the very first time this past weekend as I attended the annual Banjo Bowl.

The things that jumped out at me, not a bad seat in the house - very spacious walkways and a very unique roof.

Bob Irving the longtime Blue Bomber broadcaster, gave me the guided tour and pointed out the roof. It is uniquely shaped especially to combat both rain and snow.

This stadium is the envy of the entire CFL and I was told they took the blue print from the stadium in Seattle, and ran with it from there.

Parking still may be a bit of an issue, but it is coming leaps and bounds from where it was at the beginning of the season. There were lots of Winnipeg's finest making sure everyone got out of the stadium safely.

The noise that emulates from the stadium is freakin' incredible. I have been in a lot of loud buildings in my time, but I have never experianced the deafening sounds that came out of Investors Group Field on Sunday.

You can experiance this electricity yourself, as I have attached audio from the first ever Blue Bomber win in the new stadium as the Blue Bombers beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 25-13.

The Riders may be the best team in the league, but the Bombers were the best team on this day and the fans got what they truly deserved - A WIN!!!

The stadium was decorated with all kinds of characters dressed in green and white in addition to blue and gold and truly is a special place to be able to experience it live. I love watching games on tv, but nothing beats being there. You get revved up just sitting in the stands taking in an incredible atmosphere.

Will this be the game that turns the Bomber season around? Their defense has been pretty decent all season. They were a very determined group this day and did not allow the Riders to score a single touchdown. The only team in the CFL to accomplish this so far this season.

It was interesting listening to Bomber fans as they left the stadium on Sunday. I heard from quite a few fans that they didn't care if the Bombers won another game this season, they were basking in the fact that they pulled one off over the Riders. A big win indeed, but I cannot echo what these Bomber fans were saying.

I hope there are many more wins for this team, and hopefully a few more this season.
