Stanley Cup Is Coming To Flin Flon

Some very exciting news for hockey fans in Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan as the one and only Stanley Cup will be in Flin Flon next week.

Erin Ginnell who was born in Flin Flon and spends his summers here is the amateur scout for the Vegas Golden Knights,  and as per tradition everybody involved with the organization gets to host the Stanley Cup for the day.

Ginnell will have the cup in Flin Flon on Tuesday October the 17th with it going to the schools starting at 8:45 at Hapnot and Many Faces and making it to the rest of the schools by 11.

Between 11 and 1 the Stanley Cup will be at the Whitney Forum where the general public will be able to come see the cup and get your picture taken with it.

Ginnell who is very proud of his Flin Flon heritage says he is honored to give people an opportunity in this community to view the best and biggest  trophy in sports.

" I think it's great for the people in Flin Flon with the way hockey is embredded up there and it is a way of life. Just the thought of being able to get it up there for people to see, maybe touch and get their picture taken with it really means alot. We spend our summers there still and it has been our home base our whole life and I think it is going to be a special day."

The cup will make it's way to the Pas in the afternoon as Vaughn Karpan who is the Vegas Golden Knights Director Of Player Personnel will give people a chance in that community to view the trophy.

Karpan grew up in the Pas and still has family that live there.
