Kodiaks Fall To Wakaw Warriors

It was a cold windy rainy day yesterday at the Creighton field.

It didn't stop a good crowd of spectators who came out to cheer on the Creighton Kodiak's football team   who were up against a formidable opponent in the Wakaw Warriors.

The Warriors have been a powerhouse in Saskatchewan 6 man football and have actually ended the Kodiaks season the last two year's  when Creighton has crossed over to play in the Provincial bracket.

Creighton knew it would be a tough task and would have to win the turn over battle.

The game started well as the Kodiaks were able to run the ball with Peyton Pelletier finding the back of the end zone a couple of times in the first quarter.

It was tied at 14 after the first quarter and the Kodiaks took the lead briefly when Pelletier would once again make his way into the end zone early in the second.

The lead was short lived as Wakaw quarterback Griffin Leblanc went to work and did a really good job of converting a lot of deep passes down the field which resulted in touchdowns.

Wakaw went up 35 to 22 at the half and never looked back.

The Kodiaks turned the ball over too many times in the second half and were only able to muster one touchdown late when veteran Jordan Gorrell ran the ball in late in the fourth quarter.

The final score was 57 to 30 for Wakaw as the Warriors improve to 3 - 0 and the Kodiaks slip to 1-2.

Creighton will wrap up the regular season next Thursday against Shellbrook with the playoffs starting on Thursday October the 19th.

The Kodiaks have qualified for the post season and will be starting on the road against an opponent yet to be determined.
