Kodiaks Are Changing Conferences

Big news for the Creighton Kodiaks 6 man football team. They will be moving from Conference 5 to Conference  4 starting this fall.

Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk was on 102.9 CFAR today and told us why this move was made. " We are very excited about the news for our team and league.  My plan was to play in the North this year and make a move next season. Things developed in the last few weeks that were out of my control. Basically what happened was when all the teams came together in the North, to determine who would be playing in 1A to compete for a Provincial spot,  Sandy Bay and the other teams did not want to play us and moved to 2A, so we had no  one to play other than Cumberland."

The Kodiaks move into a conference with Shellbrook, Hague, Rosthern, Birch Hills and Wakaw.

Creighton will play 6 regular season games with the top 4 teams in the Conference making the playoffs.

The Kodiaks will play one exhibition game in Shellbrook on September the 7th before opening the regular season on September the 14th against the Provincial Champions from Wakaw.

Training camp will open up on August the 19th and Head Coach Karakochuk says they have over 30 players returning from last year's squad including everyone on defense.
