Stars Dominate Bombers 6 to 2

The Battleford Stars built up a quick 3 to 0 lead last night and never looked back in a solid 6 to 2 win over the Flin Flon Bombers in game 3 of the Canterra Seeds Cup.

Tynan Ewart, Keiton Klein and Kian Bell all hit the back of the net in the opening period to put the Bombers back on their heels early.

The Stars couldn't of executed their game plan any better and took the large crowd out of it early.

I thought when the Bombers scored with less than a second remaining in the first period that they might get some life. Alexi Sylvestre re-directed a shot from Cory King that went through the legs of Josh Kotai to get Flin Flon on the board.

It was the Stars who came out flying and scored two more quick goals from Jordan Gibbs and Steven Kesserling. The Kesslering goal chased Harmon Laser Hume who had pretty much no help all night.

Kenny Marquart entered the game and played very well considering that he hadn't played a game in several weeks and only surrendered one goal.

The Bombers did pull a little closer when Alex Von Sprecken fired a laser beam off the post and in to beat Kotai for his third of the post season. That was all the offense Flin Flon could muster and the Stars did answer with Kesslering's second of the night late in the middle frame.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Von Sprecken has been the Bomber's best player in the finals and here's hoping that the rest of his team mates can find a way to match his intensity.

The Bombers also have to find a way to get some shots on Josh Kotai who wasn't  very busy last night in facing 32 shots. Most of those came from the outside and wern't very difficult.

There is nothing to lose now as the Bombers are down three games to none and need to win tonight to keep their season going. I will be interested to see if their big guns show up tonight when they need them most.

So far, other then Sylvestre the Bombers have got no production from their top scorers.

They say the toughest game to win in a 7 game series is the elimination game and the Bombers hope that holds true tonight.

A big contingent from the 92-93 Championship team is expected to be at the Forum tonight, so maybe that will bring the Bombers good luck.

Don't forget all the action is back on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
