Game 3 Tonight

After a 5 day break the SJHL Canterra Seeds Cup will switch venues to the friendly confines of the Whitney Forum.

The Battleford Stars took care of buisiness and won both games at Access Communications Centre by scores of 5 to 2 and 3 to 0 and bring a two game  lead into game three tonight.

This will be no small task for the Flin Flon  Bombers who will need to win 4 of the next 5 games against a team that only lost 5 games in regulation all season.

The Bombers are hoping that history will repeat itself as you might recall the Stars led the Bombers two games to none in their SJHL Quarter Final last year to only see Flin Flon reel off four straight.

It will certainly be an  uphill battle as the Stars who are known for their high octane offense are pretty good defensively too and have only given up 17 goals in 11 games.

What is more staggering is they have only given up 3 goals on the road. You can make a case that Josh Kotai is the biggest reason, but the Stars also don't give up much in front of him.

They have blocked a lot of shots and have not allowed the Bombers a lot of offensive zone time. Although I thought Flin Flon did get more quality chances in game two.

The Stars best players are also showing up every game and now it is time for the Bombers to do the same.

Cole Duperreault, Jeremi Tremblay, Jacob Vockler and Alexi Sylveste have all been held at bay. The Bombers also could use some offense from Zach Cain. Cain was acquired at the trade deadline from the Melville Millionaires and was one of the top scorers in the league.

Cain enters the weekend with 4 points in 10 playoff games and is still looking for his first ever playoff goal. Flin Flon could definately use some offense from him.

The Bombers will also have to play the rest of the league final with out their Captain Lucas Fry. Fry was injured by a skate in game one and will not be back this season.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan is hoping his team can use that for motivation. In a first class move the Bombers hung his jersey on their bench back in Battleford for game two and I am sure it will be there again tonight.

They say you are never in trouble til you lose a game at home and the Bombers still have that luxury. The Maroon and White are hoping to rally behind the allegiance of their many fans and big crowds are expected both games this weekend.

Remember, it was that game 3 OT win against the Stars last Spring  that turned their whole playoff around.

This team has battled adversity all year and you can win a lot of games and do some great things when you have strong character and a lot of heart.

Don't forget that tickets will be available at the Bomber office today between 1 and 5 and bring those radios and mobile devices tonight.

Once again Creighton Furniture Flin Flon Bomber Playoff Hockey will hit the air with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
