Interview With Gardiner MacDougall

Gardiner MacDougall is one of the most successful coach's in Canada and is fresh off another University National Championship.

MacDougall just guided the University Of New Brunswick to another Canadian University Championship which is the 8th title in his 23 year career.

MacDougall has had success at every level he has coached including a Memorial Cup with the Saint John Sea Dogs when he took over late last year.

It all began in Northern Manitoba back in the mid 80's when MacDougall was hired in Cranberry Portage to coach the local high school team.

That led to a stint as a Flin Flon Bomber Assistant Coach in 1990 and 92, Lebret Eagles Head Coach between 1993-96 and eventually Head Coach of the OCN Blizzard of the MJHL.

Gardiner was the first ever Head Coach in Blizzard history and won a league title in his final year of 1998-99.

He then moved on to the University of New Brunswick in 2000 and has been there ever since.

I had a chance to catch up with Gardiner on one of my recent Flin Flon Bomber broadcasts,  and we had a nice chat about his fond memories of starting out in  Northern Manitoba and his recent success at the University level.
