Broncos Stave Off Elimination

The Humboldt Broncos came out with a terrific effort at the Whitney Forum last night  and picked up a well deserved 4 to 1 win over the Flin Flon Bombers.

The Bombers had a chance to wrap up the series with a three games to none advantage heading into puck drop yesterday.

Flin Flon looked good early and grabbed a quick 1 to 0 lead when Brent Gulenchyn took a beautiful feed from Zach Cain and fired the puck off the cross bar and in.

This was Gulenchyn's first ever SJHL playoff goal. Unfortunately that was all the Bomber's could muster offensively all night.

Humboldt took over after that and scored the next four.

Quinn Myles would tie the game late in the first when he got a loose puck in the slot to beat Harmon Laser Hume.

Both goalies played well and the 1 all score  would stay that way til the third period.

The Bronco's finally scored on their 5th chance on the powerplay when Spencer Bell re-directed a Tim Kim shot over the left shoulder of Harman Laser Hume. This would stand up as the game winner.

They would get a couple of insurance goals from Captain Ethan Zielke who scored right off a faceoff in the Bombers zone and an eventual empty netter from Ben Kotylak.

Flin Flon couldn't  get anything going and their powerplay was very ineffective and couldn't even get set up. You have to give the Bronco's credit who played a whale of a game on the road to keep their season going.

Final shots were 41 to 35 for the Bombers but many came from the outside and not very close to the net.

Humboldt now has life and will host game 5 at the Elgar Petersen Arena tomorrow night at 8:30  MB time.

The Bombers need to get back on track and find ways to get more good offensive chances. Humboldt has done a remarkable  job keeping them away from the front of their net and Ben Motew didn't have to make a lot of difficult saves.

No matter what go's down you will have the best seat in the house for all the action from game 5 of the SJHL Semi- Final from Humboldt,  with our Great North GM Coach's at 8:10 and drop of the puck at 8:30 on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
