The PBCN Selects saw their season come to an end this past weekend with a 4 to 2 loss against the Peguis Juniors at the Whitney Forum on Saturday.

 

Keanu Woodhouse got the Juniors  on the board early with a short handed goal just 6 and a half minutes into the opening period.

 

The pride of Las Vegas, Dominic Surh answered a few minutes later but that was as close as the Selects would get Saturday afternoon.

 

Keenan McPherson and Jayden McPherson scored to put the Juniors up  3 to 1.

 

Leo Kaluudjak did make it a one goal game  again with his second of the playoffs on the power play to make it 3 to 2.

 

Woodhouse got his second of the game to give Peguis more breathing room late in the second period,  and Peguis took the 4 to 2 lead into the locker room.

 

There was no scoring in the third period.

 

Odin Church was spectacular in goal for PBCN and kept his team in the game with lots of big saves,  including 14 in the third period and stopped 44 out of 48 on the afternoon.

 

You can see why he was awarded the top goalie in the league.

 

Peguis sweeps the best of 5, three straight and will meet the winner of the NCN Flames, OCN Storm series.

 

That series is 2-1 right now in NCN'S favour.

 

Head Coach and GM of the Selects, Gatlin Church had this to say on his team's first season in the KJHL. "Over all I think we surprised a lot of people on the quality of hockey in this league. I think a lot of people thought it was going to be rock em sock em and lots of fights. Over all I am happy with the group of guys we had and I know lots of guys are loking forward to coming back. I think we will make some changes on and off the ice and hopefully things will go a lot smoother for season two."

 

The Selects finished third overall in the regular season at 19-11-0-4 and beat Cross Lake two games to none in their opening round best of 3 , before losing out to  the 5 time defending champs from Peguis.
