Selects Hold Off Cross Lake, Off To The Next Round

The PBCN Selects are headed to the second round of the KJHL playoffs.

PBCN went into Cross Lake last night and held off the Islanders 4 to 3, to take their opening round best of 3, 2 games to none.

The Selects started slow and were down 1 to 0 entering the second period on a goal from Kadin Ross.

Carson Favel scored a short handed goal early in the second and the Selects seemed to get a spark from there.

Owen Angootealuk, Israel Maktor and Flin Flon's Nole Pearson found the back of the net in the second period as the Selects took a 4 to 3 lead into the third.

There was no scoring in the third as both goalies stood on their heads.

Odin Church stopped all 15 shots in the third as Cross Lake wound up with 42 for the game.

And the Islander's Aidan Spraggs made 20 saves in the third and gave his team a chance to pull out the win. The Selects finished up with 37 total.

PBCN will now head to Peguis this weekend for the next round of the playoffs as they will kick off a best of 5.

Game one is Saturday at 7:30 and game two will be played Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

Dates for Flin Flon have yet to be confirmed.

The season series was 4-1-1 in Peguis's favour and they have won the KJHL league title 5 years in a row.
