Just 3 games remaining in the SJHL regular season as the Flin Flon Bombers will host the Melfort Mustangs tonight at the Whitney Forum.

 

The Bombers,  despite missing 6 regulars from the line up are playing good hockey and are unbeaten in their last 6 games.

 

They are fresh off a 4 to 3 win over Nipawin this past Friday and have the second best home record in the league at 21-3-1-1. They are also 8-1-1 in their last 10.

 

Flin Flon continues to hold on to second overall, but the team they are battling with the Humboldt Bronco's have 4 games remaining and will finish second if they win their final 4.

 

Saying that, the Bombers can finish no lower than third and just want to finish the season strong and try and get some bodies back.

 

The Mustangs come to town tied with the Laronge Ice Wolves for fourth overall and these two teams will clash  in the opening round of the playoffs.

 

Both Melfort and Laronge have two games remaining in the regular season and Laronge owns the tie breaker if they end up tied at the end of the season.

 

Melfort is 6-2-2 in their last 10 and are another one of those teams that is a lot better at home than they are on the road with 17 wins at the Palace and just 12 on the road.

 

They always play the Bombers tough and the season series is 3 to 2 in the Bombers favour.

 

I expect a desperate Melfort team tonight who will need one of their best efforts this season, with home ice advantage on the line for the first round of the playoffs.

 

Melfort will also need a favour from the Bombers who close out the regular season this weekend with a home and home against Laronge.

 

No broadcast tonight, but we will have both games this weekend including the game in Laronge on Friday.
