Bombers Sweep Wings And Have Won 3 In A Row

It was a gutsy effort by the Flin Flon Bombers who keep finding ways to win games despite missing some key offensive stars.

The Bombers kept up their winning ways with a weekend sweep of the much improved Weyburn Red Wings.

Weyburn made their way to the Whitney Forum this past weekend 6-2-2 in their last 10 and had beaten the Bombers in their last meeting 4 to 1 back on February the 9th.

Flin Flon built up a 3 to 0 lead on Friday and hung on for a 4 to 3 win.

Joey Lies, Alexi Sylvestre and Cory King all found the back of the net. Zach Cain got the game winner midway through the final period after Weyburn fought back to tie it at 3.

The Bombers carried the momentum into Saturday and this time they knocked off the Wings 5 to 3.

Ethan Mercer seeled it with an empty netter with just over a minute remaining in regulation.

Once again the Bombers got some timely secondary scoring from Brock Mueller who netted his second, Barron Stibbe his second , Liam Bridger his 9th and Kylynn Olafson got his third on the powerplay.

With a lot of big names out, the Bombers are getting someone different each night stepping up and scoring some big goals.

Harmon Laser Hume has been doing his job and stopped 21 shots last night for his 26th win  of the season.

Flin Flon is on quite the roll in February and improve to 8-2 in the month and also picked up their 20th home win of the year last night.

Overall, the Bombers are 34-13-2-1 and are once again tied with the Humboldt Broncos for second overall, but the Broncos do have a game in hand.

These two teams will meet in a big showdown this Wednesday at the Elgar Petersen Arena. The Bombers will also play in Yorkton on Tuesday.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan mentioned on the CFAR Post Game Show last night that he hopes his team doesn't over look the Terriers on Tuesday.

The Bombers have had some trouble with Yorkton this season and the Terriers have already beaten them twice.

We will have both these road games on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com including the Great North GM Coach's Show from Yorkton at 6:40pm on Tuesday night.
