Bombers Clash With Wings This Weekend

Only 8 games remain in the regular season and this could go down as one of the biggest weekends heading down the stretch.

The Flin Flon Bombers will welcome the Weyburn Red Wings to town for a pair of games including a 7:30 faceoff tonight.

The Bombers limp into tonight's crucial game with 6 regulars out of their line-up including their top 4 scorers in Cole Duperreault, Jeremi Tremblay, Jaeden Mercier and Jacob Vockler.

They have also lost the services of Matt Egan and Cole Tanchuk. Rumour has it that Tanchuk is close to returning.

Flin Flon did find a way to rally for a big win in Nipawin on Tuesday night as Noah Houle and Alexi Sylvestre had big nights with a pair of goals each.

Weyburn comes to town as one of the most improved teams in the league in the second half and are 6-2-2 in their last 10.

They are not your typical celler dwellers any more and I believe if they had their current roster they have now at the start of the season, they would run away with their division.

The Wings can score and have a very dangerous first line in Tyler Morgan, Ty Mason and Jakob Kalin. They have combined for 197 points as a unit.

It was after the Wings acquired Morgan from Laronge that they started to turn their season around.

Morgan has been great offensively and has been the big catalist on their powerplay adding 22 points with the extra attacker including 10 goals.

The Wings were also a little inconsistant in goal but seem to have found their man in 19 year old Dazza Mitchell out of Regina.

Mitchell is 15-9 to go along with a GAA of 2.86 and a save % of .912.

Flin Flon will have their work cut out for them but will be playing in the confines of the Whitney Forum where they have only lost 3 games in regulation all season.

Weyburn has also struggled on the road at 7-14-1 but have been better lately.

The Bombers are 8-2 in their last 10 and the Bombers have had the advantage in the head to head meetings winning two of three.

Weyburn did win the last game 4 to 1 at home back on February the 9th.

We will have tonight's game on Hockey TV, and back on radio and the net tomorrow.

Don't forget it all begins with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
