Juniors Snap Selects Winning Streak

The Peguis Juniors were able to mount a late third period comeback as they snapped the PBCN Selects 11 game winning streak in the Keystone Junior Hockey League.

 

The Selects knocked off Peguis on Friday by a score of 5 to 2 in a game that was played in Pine Creek.

 

Dwayne McKenzie led the way with a pair of goals, his 31st and 32nd of the season.

 

Odin Chuch picked up his 11th win of the season for PBCN, stopping 32 out of 34 shots.

 

On Saturday, the Selects were just over 3 minutes away from winning their 12th straight as Lyle Murdock scored his 23rd with just over 3 minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game at 5.

 

Peguis brought the momentum into the extra period and Keanu Woodhouse took a nice pass from Jeremiah Jacques and beat Logan Grenier for the game winning goal and a 6 to 5 OT win.

 

Dominic Suhr scored a pair for the Selects as their impressive 11 game winning streak came to an end.

 

Congratulations to the Selects starting goalie  Odin Church who was awarded the player of the month for January.

 

Church was 7-0 and posted a .875 save % and a 4.56 gaa.

 

The Selects remain in third overall at 18-9-4 and can still catch Peguis for second spot. PBCN is 3 points behind with three games remaining in the regular season.

 

The Selects head to OCN for their next game this Saturday before returning home to face the Storm the following Wednesday.
