The Flin Flon Bombers will be looking to ride the momentum when they make their way to the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort tonight.

 

Flin Flon, fresh off a win against Notre Dame on Sunday , finally played three complete periods enroute to the 5 to 2 victory.

 

Cole Duperreault looked like his old self in picking up the hat-trick for his 25th, 26th and 27th goals of the season. He is second in the league in goals as only Kian Bell of the Battlefords has more with 33.

 

Jaeden Mercier continues to be the Bombers most consistant player and has picked up 7 points in his last 4 games. His 29 points on the powerplay is the best in the sjhl.

 

The Mustangs are led by the big three of Dawson Leroux, Ben Tkachuk and the college bound Zac Somers. These three players have combined for 104 points. Tkachuk got off to a slow start and has battled injuries but is now a point a game player.

 

Melfort always seems to have good goaltending and have two capable starters in Joel Favreau and James Venne.

 

They pretty much split the crease and both guys numbers are good with Venne coming into tonight with a gaa of 2.46 and a save % of .919. Favreau's gaa is 2.61 and save % .913.

 

The Bombers Harmon Laser Hume has had a lot of good games this year and may be a little under rated with his 18 wins and gaa of 2.46 and save % of .917.

 

Laser Hume also looked sharp in the 5 to 2 win on Saturday.

 

Tonight's match-up will be huge in the standings as the Bombers find them selves second in the Sherwood and fourth overall. Flin Flon trails Laronge by 3 points and Humboldt by 2.

 

Melfort is in the mix and if they can beat the Bombers tonight they will move to within just 2 points of Flin Flon.

 

The season series is in Flin Flon's favour at 3 and 1, but tonight's game will be the toughest to win with a desperate Melfort team knowing what is at stake.
