Bombers Rebound Against Hounds

The Flin Flon Bombers looked very good in their return to the ice after a 7 day break to face the Notre Dame Hounds on Saturday.

The Bombers were coming off a very disappointing loss in Kindersley from the previous weekend,  where they had several defensive turn overs and one of their weakest outings of the season.

Flin Flon was ready to go on Saturday and came out with 25 shots in the first period and picked up a much needed 5 to 2 victory.

Cole Duperreault led the way with the hat-trick, his 25th, 26th and 27th of the season and broke out of his mini slump.

Duperreault only had one point in his previous 5 games coming into Saturday, but broke out in a big way.

New comer Zach Cain scored his second in a Bomber uniform and 16th overall with the other Bomber goal coming from Jeremi Tremblay.

Jaeden Mercier continued his fine play by adding two assists and has 7 points in his last 4 games.

Matteo Speranza and Isaiah Peters scored the two Notre Dame goals.

Harmon Laser Hume was back between the pipes and was good when he needed to be and ended up with 22 saves on 24 shots.

Johan Tremblay-Kau took the loss, but was brilliant at times and kept the Hounds in it with 45 saves on 50 shots.

This was a very important two points for the Bombers who are trying to keep pace with a number of teams for second over all.

Flin Flon is now in fourth spot at 24-10-2-1 and trail Humboldt by 2 points for third and Laronge by 3 points for second. The Wolves won all three of their games this weekend to vault up the standings.

The Bombers have one game in hand on Humboldt  and 5 on Laronge.

It will be a busy week for the Maroon and White as the Bombers head to Melfort tomorrow for a key Sherwood Division tilt. The Mustangs are also battling for positioning with the league's top clubs,  and enter tomorrow's game just 4 points behind the Bombers.

Flin Flon will also host Estevan in a pair of games this weekend at the Whitney Forum in a rematch of this past Springs league final.

We will broadcast tomorrow's game from Melfort and this Saturday's game against Estevan on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
