Bombers Tangle With The Mills

The Flin Flon Bombers will get back on the ice after a 6 day break and will face the Melville Millionaires in a pair of games at the Whitney Forum.

Flin Flon sits top spot in the Sherwood Division at 9-3-1-1 and have been very good at home with a record of  6-0-1-1.

Melville is one of the most improved teams from last year and come to town with a record of 6-8-1-1 and are second in the Viterra, 4 points behind Estevan.

The Mills also have 3 games in hand and are coming off a big win in Laronge on Wednesday winning 5 to 3.

The Bombers have beaten Melville twice already this season with a win in Melville back on October the 11th, 7 to 2. Flin Flon also beat them at the Showcase back on September the 27th 5 to 4 in OT.

Flin Flon seems to have found their groove offensively and are led by 20 year old forward's Cole Duperreault and Jaeden Mercier.

Duperreault and Mercier sit 7th overall in league scoring with 19 points in 14 games.

Flin Flon also has 7 players who have hit double digits in goals and the addition of Jacob Vockler has made the team even more dangerous.

Vockler has 8 points in 7 games since returning from the US and has helped the Bombers improve their powerplay.

Flin Flon is the top team in the league with the man advantage at 26.8 % and their PK isn't too shabby either, second overall at 86.2 %.

One of the reasons that Melville is vastly improved is that they are scoring more goals. They have scored 48 goals in 16 games and if they can get a little better defensively, should help them vault up the standings.

Melville has given up 57, which is fourth from the bottom.

Flin Flon looks to keep their impressive play going at the Whitney Forum where they haven't surrendered a single goal in their last three home games.

Don't forget to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Northland Ford's We Scare Hunger campaign. Northland Ford will be collecting food  items  at both entrances tonight.

We kick it all off with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10.
