Champions Again

The Creighton Kodiaks travelled to Cumberland House earlier today and dug deep to win another Ralph Pilz Trophy with a 42 to 36 win over the Islanders.

The Kodiaks were looking to avenge a loss to Cumberland a few weeks back for their only loss of the year.

Cumberland had a deep veteran group and were the favorites heading into the Championship game this afternoon.

Creighton would not be denied,  and put together a masterpiece in all aspects of the game and won the turn- over battle 4 to 2.

Peyton Pelletier intercepted Cumberland on the final play of the game to seel the win. A  big celebration  followed from the Kodiaks and their allegiance of fans who made the trip to support their team for the biggest win of the season.

Carson Straile was a beast and once again led his team offensively with a 4 touchdown performance. His biggest catch was a 50 yarder with only a minute left in the game.

Markus Kennedy and Aidan Joa Hall had the other touchdowns.

Creighton is once again the Northern Saskatchewan Champions for the third straight year , and will have momentum as they travel to Wakaw next Saturday for Provincial play.

Congratulations to the coach's , players, volunteers and the entire school for a gutsy win. The Kodiaks dedicated the victory today to their special team-mate Caleb Janzen.

Listen in Tuesday to the next Norman Sportsline Program,  as Head Coach Ryan Karokochuk and players from the Championship team will be our special guests in studio at 3:30.
