Martens Wins It In OT

Another strong performance from the Flin Flon Bombers at the SJHL Showcase in Warmen yesterday.

 

Veteran Jaxon Martens who has broken out offensively picked up his second of the season just 50 seconds into the 3 on 3.

 

Martens,  who also picked up 2 assists earlier in the day converted a nice pass from linemate Jaeden Mercier to beat Alexis Giroux to give the Bombers the 5 to 4 victory.

 

Cole Duperreault scored 2 more goals to give him a team leading 6 on the season.

 

Other goals came from Dryden Jeannot who scored his first and Jeremi Trembley added his second.

 

The Melville goals came from Zach Cain, Ayden Lamarre, Payton Kostyshyn and Brayden Fryfogle.

 

The 18 year old out of Regina, Kenneth Marquart made his first start of the season and played very well stopping 31 out of 35 shots.

 

His counterpart Alexis Girous stopped 29 out of 34.

 

The Bombers improve to 3-1-0-1 and now sit top spot in the Sherwood Division with 7 points.

 

Melvilee will drop to 2-2-1 and sit second in the Viterra Division.

 

Next up will be division rival Nipawin who come to town on Saturday. Flin Flon will try to avenge a 5 to 2 loss at the Cage on opening weekend.
