It was a lot closer this time around in the battle of Northern Manitoba as the Bombers had to come from behind to beat the OCN Blizzard last night in a shoot out.
Flin Flon scored early on the power play when Jaeden Mercier grabbed a rebound off Chase Hamm's pad and flipped in a back hander to put the B'S up 1 to 0 just 3:31 in to the game.
The Bombers kept peppering the Blizzard net with lots of shots but had a tough time scoring on Chase Hamm, who redeemed himself after a tough start on Tuesday that saw him surrender 5 goals on 5 shots.
OCN also seemed to look more confident and you could see that they are starting to implement some Doug Johnson systems.
The Blizzard would get rewarded with the next two goals with 4 year vet Riley Zimmerman tapping a puck through Laser Hume's legs to tie the game early in the second.
Laser Hume was traded by the Nipawin Hawks earlier in the day to give the Bombers a little more experience in goal.
The Blizzard would grab the lead when local product Laz Constant was able to get some room , streaked down the ice and fired a nice shot stick side to beat Laser Hume and put his team up 2 to 1 after 2.
Down a goal, the Bombers came out and continued to get lots of shots and finally got rewarded late in the third when veteran Cole Duperreault came through.
Duperreault fired a shot off the post and grabbed his own rebound with lots of traffic in front of the Blizzard net and Hamm down and out.
The rest of regulation and 3 on 3 OT solved nothing so we had to go the shoot out and the Bombers went with Jaeden Mercier and Cole Duppereault back to back.
Both snipers found the back of the net and Laser Hume stopped both OCN shooters and the Bombers grabbed the 3 to 2 victory.
The game really shouldn't of been close as the Bombers out shot OCN 41 to 15 but Hamm played well.
Flin Flon went 1 for 3 on the powerplay while the Blizzard were 0 for 6.
The Bombers finish the preseason 5 and 1 while the Blizzard went 1 and 2.
It now starts for real as the Bombers will get ready for the regular season which will start on Friday when the Melfort Mustangs come to town.
