The first six minutes told the story last night as the Flin Flon Bombers travelled to the GLMC to battle the OCN Blizzard in the latest chapter in the battle of Northern Manitoba.

 

Flin Flon scored on their first 5 shots of the game and took a commanding 6 to 0 lead before the game was even 6 minutes old and ended up winning 10 to 4.

 

This was the Blizzard's first pre season game and only wrapped up camp on Sunday. Flin Flon was playing their fourth pre season game.

 

A tough start for Blizzard  goalie Chase Hamm who was hung out to dry for many of the early goals. 

 

I give OCN credit who played a lot better in the second and third after surrendering 6 goals in the opening period.

 

Matter of fact,  if you take away the first 6 minutes it was actually 4-4 the rest of the way.

 

The Blizzard settled down and scored earely in the second when veteran Mitch Hlady converted a pass from his brother Michael.

 

OCN got the rest of their goals from Marlen Edwards, Miguel Bouvier and John Kremer.

 

The Bomber attack was led by Jaeden Mercier who had a 4 point night including two goals.

 

The other Flin Flon goals came from Alaska's Silas Hughes who had a pair, local product Jordan Pfoh, Cheechoo Lathlin, Andrey Manov, Kylynn Olafson, Liam Cochrane and Aiden Chow.

 

Specialty teams saw the Bombers go 1 for 4 with the extra attacker while the Blizz finished up 0 for 3.

 

Ethan Farrow started for the Bombers and stopped 7 out of 8 shots while Kenneth Marquart came in later and ended up with 5 saves.

 

Chase Hamm went the distance for the Blizzard and ended up stopping 13 out of 23 shots.

 

These two teams will meet again on Friday with the venue switching to the Whitney Forum. The Bombers will face Kam River out of the SIJHL on Thursday at the forum with puck drop at 7:30.
