The Flin Flon Bombers couldn't get much going yesterday and dropped their first game at the Centennial Cup to the Summerside Capitals by a score of 4 to 1.
The afternoon started well when Xavier Lapointe converted a nice feed from Ethan Antsey and put the Bombers on the board just 2:12 into the opening period.
Unfortunately the offense dried up and it was all Summerside after that.
They would score four unanswered courtesy of Thomas Lacombe, Jacob Stewart, Aaron Brown and Colby MacArthur.
The Bombers were under siege for most of the afternoon and didn't start to get a lot of good chances til the third period.
Cal Schell held the Bombers in it and made 29 saves on 33 shots including a couple of great glove saves in the third period.
Flin Flon just seemed a step behind for much of the game.
Former Quebec Major Junior Star, Anthony Eithier did his job making 30 saves and was certainly good when he had to be and didn't give up a lot of rebounds.
Eithier got back on track after being pulled in his previous start against Dauphin.
The Bomber power play moved the puck around well but couldn't hit pay dirt and finished 0 for 5. Summerside was 1 for 4.
It doesn't get any easier for the Bombers who will finish the preliminary round against the MJHL champion Dauphin Kings who are 2-0.
The Kings are led by the fantastik goaltending of Carson Cherepak who has been lights out. Cherepak has only given up 2 goals in 2 games and comes into today's game with a very impressive save % of .970.
Flin Flon will have their hands full and need to stay out of the penalty box. The Kings scored 5 power play goals against Summerside on Monday.
The Bombers need to win today to guarantee a spot into the Quarter Finals. If they lose they would need Summerside to beat Ottawa.
