A heart breaking loss at the Whitney Forum last night which may have cost the Flin Flon Bombers third place.

 

The Melfort Mustang were in town and they had a two point lead on the Maroon and White for third before last night's puck drop. 

 

The night started well with the Bombers jumping out 2-0, but they couldn't with stand the lead.

 

Melfort clawed their way back and eventually took the contest 3 to 2.

 

Flin Flon got  their goals  from Drew Kuzma who continue's to deliver every time he steps on the ice. Kuzma got his 19th less than 5 minutes in.

 

Mason Kaspick would score a late first period goal and the Bombers seemed in control with a 2-0 lead after one.

 

It was all Mustangs the rest of the way with Logan Cox, Trenton Curtis and Nolan Doell all finding the back of the net in the second period despite being out shot 14 to 7.

 

Melfort held the fort in the third as the Bombers couldn't get the equalizer.

 

It was Flin Flon's 5th loss in their last 8 despite out shooting the Mustangs 39 to 30.

 

With last night's win the Mustangs now have a 4 point lead on the Bombers for third with the rematch in Melfort tomorrow.

 

The Good news is,  the Bombers have two more games while Melfort has just one.

 

If Flin Flon could beat Melfort in regulation tomorrow and Battleford Friday they could at least get fourth as they would be tied for points with 75.

 

The Bombers would get the tie breaker due to more wins.

 

Flin Flon could still finish third if they win their last two and Battleford lose two of their last 3.

 

One thing is for sure, the last few games will really be interesting.

 

The Bombers wrap up the regular season in Melfort tomorrow and Battleford Friday and both games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
