Bombers Drop Their Fourth Straight

The Flin Flon Bombers were just over 4 minutes away from hitting the win column but a late push by the Battleford Stars on Sunday afternoon brought the Bomber losing streak to 4 games.

I didn't know what to expect with 3 games in 3 days including an afternoon game against Yorkton the day before,  but the Bombers came out flying.

Flin Flon controlled the play and led the game 2 to 1 after 2, on goals from Jaeden Mercier and Cole Duperreault who both scored their 16th goals of the season.

The Bombers continued to dictate the play in the third and looked like they were going to leave the Battleford's with points,  but the game took a drastic change with just over 4 minutes left.

Tynan Ewart was able to bury a shot past Ben Montgomery to tie the game with just over 4 minutes left in regulation.

This changed the momentum and the Stars crashed the net and Kelton Klein was left alone in front and he slipped a puck under Ben Montgomery's pad for the eventual game winner.

Klein  would also add a empty netter with just 9 seconds left to give the Stars the 4 to 2 win.

A valliant effort from Flin Flon who were playing the game without 5 regulars including starting goalie Cal Schell who got injured the day before in Yorkton.

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan is hoping that Cal can return in a week.

It was a frustrating road trip with the Bombers losing all 3 games by one goal and Flin Flon could of easilly come home with 6 points.

The Bombers will get a chance to snap the losing streak at home with a pair of games this week.

Nipawin who beat Flin Flon last Tuesday are in town tomorrow and Notre Dame will be here on Saturday.

After the weekend, Flin Flon's record will drop to 31-16-2-1 and are just 3 points up on the Stars for third overall. Battleford has 2 games in hand.

Melfort who have been decimated with injuries are 4 points back and both teams have played 50 games.

Both home games this week will be broadcast on Hockey TV, and the next game on radio will be on Tuesday March the 1st from Nipawin.
