Bombers Wrap Up Road Trip In Style

The Flin Flon Bombers looked anything but tired as they picked up a huge win to complete the 4 game in 5 night road trip in Weyburn last night.

The Bombers torched the Wings 6 to 0 en route to their 29th win of the season.

Flin Flon's power play was on fire going 4 for 9 and was a big factor in the win.

The Bombers scored two power play goals before the game was 6 minutes old courtesy of Jaeden Mercier (14) and captain Zak Smith (15) and went on cruize control after that.

Vockler ( 10), Martens (16), Thiessen (3) and Kuzma (12) rounded out the scoring, as 6 different players found the back of the net.

Drew Kuzma was facing his old team for the first time and ended up picking up 3 points to give him 9 points in 12 games since coming over January the 10th.

Cal Schell was betwen the pipes and picked up his 5th shut out of the season and is tied with Estevan's Boston Bilous for the league lead.

This is a milestone for Schell as he has tied Danny Dennis for the most shut-outs in a season for a Bomber goalie. Dennis did it in the Bombers championship season of 92-93.

The Bombers come home with 5 out of a possible 8 points which included a win in Yorkton on Tuesday, a OT loss in Notre Dame Wednesday and a heart breaking 3 to 2 loss in Estevan on Friday.

I want to personally thank Mike Stackhouse for broadcasting all 4 games for us and doing a sensational job. I couldn't make the trip so I really appreciate Mike taking the time to bring the games to the Bomber fans.

Flin Flon remains first in the Sherwood and third overall at 29-12-2-1. They are 4 points up on Melfort with 2 games in hand and 6 points up on Battleford.

The Stars have 3 games in hand and will finally play the Bombers this weekend. We are almost through the entire regular season and these two teams will play for the first time this weekend.

They were supposed to meet back in January but Covid changed that.

Battleford will make their way to the Whitney Forum for games Friday and Saturday night. We will broadcast Friday's game here on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.

It all begins with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10.
