Bombers Collide With Mustangs

The red hot Flin Flon Bombers will travel to Melfort to battle the Mustangs tonight at the Northern Lights Palace.

Flin Flon has a 2 game winning streak and are 8-2 in their last 10 games.

Unfortunately,  with the Humboldt Broncos winning last night the Bombers now sit second overall at 12-5. The Broncos improve to 13-4.

Melfort has also had a solid season and trail the Bombers by 3 points for top spot in the Sherwood. Both teams have played 17 games.

This will be the third meeting of the season with the two clubs splitting the two games to open the season back in September.

Melfort won their home opener 5 to 2 while the Bombers returned the favour by winning 5 to 3 in their rink.

After a quick start the Mustangs have cooled off going 5-5 in their last 10.

These two teams are very comparible stats wise with the Bombers scoring 64 times so far this year while the Mustangs have found the back of the net on 57 occasions.

Goals against is almost dead even with Flin Flon giving up 44 compared to the Mustangs 43.

Both teams also have lots of production through out the line-up and don't have to depend on one or two players to score all the goals.

The Bombers have 9 players on their team that have hit double figures for points while the Mustangs have 5.

It doesn't really seem to matter what time of the year it is as it always feels like a playoff game between these two teams.

There never seems to be a game that doesn't mean anything.

We will be back with another addition of Creighton Furniture Bomber Hockey tonight including the Great North GM Coach's Show at 8:15 and drop of the puck at 8:30.

This will be our last 8:30 broadcast with the time change this weekend.
