Kodiaks Repeat As Champs

The Creighton Kodiaks took care of buisiness on Saturday and  had no trouble picking up their second straight Northern Saskatchewan Football title.

The Kodiaks pounced on the Cumberland House Islanders early and piled on the points in a convincing 56 to 12 victory.

Ryan Karkakochuk told us heading into the Northern Final on Saturday that they were going to try to put the game out of reach early and that is exactly what they did.

This game was never in doubt with Creighton taking a 31-0 lead at the half.

Creighton was led offensively by veterans Carson Straile and Noah Olivier who both scored a pair of touchdowns including Olivier converting a nice 40 yard pass from Marcus Kennedy.

Other highlights included Carson Straile running back a 75 yard kick off and Brenden Haley scooping up a fumble and running it back for a touchdown.

Aidan Joa Hall and Jordan Gorrell also scored majors.

There was a great crowd on hand at the Creighton Field that saw the home town Kodiaks successfully defend their Northern Saskatchewan title,  and hoist  the Ralph Pilz trophy for the 4th  time in their history.

The Kodiaks are far from done and will get back to practise tomorrow to prepare for their stiffest test this year as they will officially kick off the Provincial bracket this Saturday on home turf VS Shellbrook.

We will have a special preview with Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk this Thursday at 3:30 with the next edition of The Creighton Kodiak Football Report.

102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will also broadcast this Saturday's Provincial game from the Creighton Field with a special pre game show 15 minutes before kick off.

Game time is 2pm, Manitoba time.
