Bruins Snap Bombers Winning Streak

The Flin Flon Bombers were 20 minutes away from picking up their 7th straight win last night.

Flin Flon continued their Southern swing in Estevan and took a 1-0 lead into the third period on a goal by Jaxson Martens who picked up his fourth of the year on the PP.

The Bombers stormed out of the gate and out shot the home town Bruins 18 to 9 in the first period but had a hard time solving Boston Bilous.

Trailing 1-0 in the third,  Estevan rallied around their goaltender and scored a short handed goal early in the period to take the momentum.

Caelan Fitzpatrick scored the short handed goal with the game winning goal coming from Eric Houk  mid way through the final frame as the Bruins took last night's contest 3 to 1.

Mikol Sartor scored into the empty net with only 41 seconds remaining.

Both goalies were very good with Bilous making 41 saves and the Bombers Cal Schell stopping 28.

The Flin Flon Bomber power play which has been so dominant this year only managed 1 goal on 6 tries and they did give up the short handed goal.

The Bruins were 0 for 2.

After last  night's loss the Bomber record sits at 10-4 and they remain first overall, with a one point lead on division rival Melfort.

Estevan will improve to 6-3 and are starting to pull away in the Viterra Division.

Flin Flon will enjoy a day off today before resuming the trip in Notre Dame on Friday.
