Nice Way To Start The Trip

The Flin Flon Bombers have found their groove as they kicked off their Southern road trip with a nice 4 to 2 win in Melville.

This was a tight game all the way through with the Bombers needing an empty net goal to pick up the victory.

The game was tied at 2 after 2 before Cole Vardy would score the eventual game winner 6:12 into the final period.

Vardy continues to have a career season as he scored his 5th goal and leads all SJHL Defensemen with 11 points.

Jaeden Mercier added his 5th into the empty net to seal the deal with less than 30 seconds to go.

The other Bomber goals came from Zak Smith and Kylynn Olafson.

Cal Schell was back between the pipes and he made 34 saves for his 7th win of the year.

Melville got their goals from Jake Spak and Jonathan Krahn and former Bomber Jared Thompson was once again impressive in goal stopping 39 out of 42.

With last night's win the Bombers have won 6 in a row and have taken over sole possesion of first place at 10-3. They are 1 point up on Melfort with the Mustangs having one game in hand.

They will get a big test tonight as the road trip continues in Estevan against the 5-3 Bruins.

Estevan has only played 8 games this year and feature a deep line up with lots of players that have major junior experience as they continue to fill their roster as hosts of this year's Centennial Cup.

Puck drop will be 8:30 MB time tonight.
