Kodiaks Crush Islanders

The Creighton Kodiaks got to play their much awaited home opener yesterday and did not disappoint the large crowd in attendance with another impressive offensive display.

The Kodiaks poured it on and rolled over the Cumberland House Islanders 68 to 20.

In a game that most likely will secure home field for the Kodiaks in the playoffs, this game was never in doubt.

Creighton jumped out to a quick 18-0 lead after the first quarter and kept piling up the points with a 48 to 8 lead at the half.

Noah Olivier had another good day with three touch downs and four converts.  Another highlight was a 70 yard strike from QB, Marcus Kennedy to Carson Straile.

Jaxson Smith, Myles Patterson and Connor Andrews also scored touch downs and Gracie Dubinak added two converts.

Head Coach Ryan Karkakochuk was happy with how his team played yesterday. " It was great to see the environment, the fans and play our first home game in two years. With that said I thought we took command of the line of scrimmage and that is the most important part of football that people don't understand. If you can establish the line of scrimmage, you can run the ball and that opens up the pass and we could do anything we wanted yesterday."

The Kodiaks improve to 2-1 on the season and will travel to Laronge next Tuesday October the 5th before hosting Athahkakoop on October the 13th to wrap up the regular season.
