Local Soccer Player Signs At CMU

The Phantom Lake Soccer program as well as Hapnot Collegiate's soccer programs have been very strong across the North for the last several years.

We have seen local soccer teams win many tournaments and the Hapnot program has dominated the high school scene with many Zone banners.

A number of local athletes have also been given the opportunity to play soccer at a higher level including Flin Flon's Brayden Abbott.

Aboott has signed with the Canadien Mennonite University Men's Blazers team.

Brayden is a goaltender that has enjoyed plenty of success including backstopping the Phantom Lake Storm to many tournament wins. He also represented team Norman at the 2016 Manitoba Summer games.

Abbott was also one of the centre pieces for Hapnot Collegiate in helping them win the Zone in 2019 and helped take them to Provincials.

"I am super excited to play with CMU," said Abbott. "I love the vibe of CMU and I think we really have the potential to do something special. I truly am excited to play and to see how my skills can convert to the next level. I can’t wait to start practicing and playing with my new teammates and learning from the coaching staff."

Abbott spent last summer in Winnipeg training with the E and E Sports Management team and will begin his season this fall.
