Bombers Grab OT Win

The Flin Flon Bombers played a complete road game and were able to pick up a 4 to 3 win in over time in Nipawin on Friday.

The two new additions, Hayden Clayton and Zach Bannister have paid off already. Clayton scored a goal in his Bomber debut when he was able to drive to the net and pick up a Donavan Houle rebound.

Bannister picked up two assists including a beautiful pass to Tristan Lemyre who scored the OT winner, just 1:24 into the extra period.

Lemyre picked up 3 points including two goals and was the game's first star and now has 40 points in 28 games including 20 goals.

Lemyre is now tied with Kyle Ford from Laronge for the overall rookie scoring lead despite playing in 17 less games.

The other Bomber goal came from veteran d-man Troy Quinn who added his third on the power play.

Nipawin responded with goals from former Bomber, Dawson McKenzie, Jordan Simoneau and Caden Benson.

Once again,  Bomber starting goalie Jacob Delorme was solid making 32 saves on 35 shots including a nice poke check which led to the winning goal in OT.

The Hawks had a chance in front of the Bomber net, but Delorme poked the puck away and Bannister grabbed the loose biscuit and skated down the ice and fed the nice pass to Lemyre for the win.

Delorme is second in the league with wins at 18 and trails Liam McGarva of Laronge by just one victory.

Flin Flon gets an important division road win and sits first in the Sherwood at 26-9-5. They lead second place Laronge and Melfort by 6 points.

The Bombers also have two games in hand on Melfort and 5 on Laronge.

The SJHL will take a three day break for the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Regina which starts Tuesday.

Good luck to the 9 Bombers who have been chosen to take part including Dane Hirst, Troy Quinn, Mason Martin,  Donavan Houle, Chase and Easton Haygarth, Zach Bannister, Tristan Lemyre and Jaeden Mercier.

Flin Flon and Nipawin will keep the rivalry going this weekend as they will play a home and home starting Friday in Flin Flon and back in Nipawin Saturday.

102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have Saturday's game including the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10.
