Delorme Comes Up Big And Reagan Gets 400th Coaching Win

It was a goaltending performance for the ages and a real statement game for Jacob Delorme who stopped 45 Laronge shots on Saturday to get the Bombers back in the win column, with a thrilling 2 to 1 OT win.

Laronge had beaten Flin Flon four straight times including a 5 to 3 win at the Whitney Forum on Friday. Some bad defensive break downs cost the Maroon and White in Friday's game.

Saturday,  the Bombers headed to LA for the re-match with just a 3 point lead over the Wolves for top spot in the division.

Bomber capatain Mason Martin opened the scoring just 2:46 into the opening period on the power play.

Martin fired a nice low shot just inside the blue line that beat Laronge starter Liam McGarva cleanly.

That goal would stand up til the 17:21 mark of the second period when Laronge's top offensive threat,  Daylon Mannon would get in alone on Delorme and sneak a shot just under his glove hand to tie the contest at 1.

Neither team could muster any more offense til the extra period, and Flin Flon got a huge break and would start over time on the power play.

It took just over a minute for the league's best unit to end it, when Cole Rafuse redirected an Alec Malo pass into the empty net to steal the two points and give the Bombers their first win of 2020.

This was Rafuse's 13th PP marker and 29th of the season.

Not only will this win help Flin Flon in the standings, but I can't imagine how big it will be in the confidence department. You could see a lot of the players hanging their heads when they skated off the ice Friday.

There has been a lot of talk in Bomber land about another goalie coming in for the stretch drive and Jacob Delorme sent a message to the league that he isn't ready to give up the number one job.

He was sensational and the difference in the game with two break away saves and lots of clutch stops through out the third period to stifle the Wolves time and time again.

Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan thought this may have been the best game that he has ever seen Delorme play.

As for the Coach and GM, congratulations on his 400th SJHL coaching win, all with the Bombers.

This is no small feat, as he is the winningest coach in Bomber history in any of the league's the Bombers have been part of in their rich history and was presented the game puck from his players after Saturday's win.

The Bombers improve to : 24-9-5 and now lead the second place Wolves by 4 points with three games in hand.

Next up will be another tough Sherwood Division opponent in the Melfort Mustangs. Melfort is another good hockey club and have beaten Flin Flon, three times this season.

They are 5 points back of the Bombers.

Wednesday, Flin Flon will travel to Melfort before hosting the re-match on Saturday.

Both games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
