Three Out Of Four

It was another good weekend for the Flin Flon Bombers who took 3 out of a possible 4 points against a pair of Sherwood Division opponents.

Friday the Bombers travelled to Laronge and dropped a 6 to 5 game in Ot.

Down 5 to 3 late in the game, Easton Haygarth scored twice with just over two minutes on the clock to send the game to extra time.

Cole Rafuse had a chance to win it, but rang one off the post before Daylon Mannon potted the game winner from a strange angle back of the Bomber net.

Other Flin Flon goals came from Dane Hirst, Billy Klymchuk and Cole Rafuse.

Flin Flon out shot the Wolves 57 to 40, but Ice Wolve  goalie Liam McGarva was the difference and was  Laronge's best player on this night.

Jacob Delorme took the loss making 34 saves on 39 shots. One of the Ice Wolve goals was scored into the empty net.

This was the first meeting between these two teams since opening weekend and Laronge look like they are for real and won't be fun to play against no matter who they square off with.

The Bombers would get right back on the ice Saturday welcoming the Nipawin Hawks to town for just the second time this season.

It was Northland Ford Teddy Bear Toss Night and there was a lot of people in attendance.

Dane Hirst would score his second in as many nights to open up the scoring on the power play.

Cox would tie it on the power play before Easton Haygarth scored to put Flin Flon up 2 to 1 after 1.

Haygarth wrestled the puck away from two Hawks in the corner and made his way to the net and fired a beauty right under the cross bar for his 9th of the year.

Veteran Jordan Simoneau would tie it early in the second before Jaeden Mercier banged in a re-bound to put Flin Flon back up 3 to 2.

For the third straight time the Hawks would tie the game when Davis Chorney scored his first ever SJHL goal at the 5:37 mark.

Tied at three entering the third, one of the hardest workers in the league, Caleb Franklin would jump on a loose puck in front of the Nipawin net to score the game winner and his 5th of the season.

Easton Haygarth scored his second of the night and fourth of the weekend into the empty net to seel the game and make the final 5 to 3.

Final shots were 49 to 40 in favour of Flin Flon. Jacob Delorme stopped 37 to pick up his team leading 13th win of the year.

Flin Flon has beat Nipawin in all three meetings this season.

After the weekend the Bombers are first in the Sherwood Division at 21-6-4 and lead the second place Melfort Mustangs by 5 points.

Flin Flon is second overall and trail the first place Battleford Stars by 8 points and do have two games in hand.

These two teams will go head to head this weekend at the Civic Centre in North Battleford battling it out Friday and Saturday.

The road trip will start in Humboldt on Thursday and all three games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
